What personal data we collect and why

We collect and process personal data through the following means:

1. Newsletter subscriptions (Mailchimp)

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and any optional data you provide. This data is securely stored by Mailchimp, our email marketing provider, based in the United States. Mailchimp complies with the GDPR through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email.

2. Website analytics (Visitor Statistics Pro)

We use Visitor Statistics Pro, a WordPress plugin, to collect anonymised visitor data such as browser type, pages visited, time spent on site, and approximate location (based on IP address). This data helps us improve the site and user experience. No personally identifiable information is stored.

3. Comments

If comments are enabled, we collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address, and browser user agent to help prevent spam. An anonymised hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to display your profile image. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/

4. Language tools (WPML and DeepL)

This site uses WPML for multilingual content and DeepL translation API for automatic translations. These tools do not collect or store any personal data from users directly. Data may be processed briefly for translation purposes but is not retained or used for profiling.

5. Media uploads

If you upload images (where applicable), avoid including embedded GPS location data. Visitors may download and extract this information.
